Stephen A. Smith: Eagles Players Said Former Coach Chip Kelly Not ‘Comfortable’ With Black Players
Stephen A. Smith called in to ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” Wednesday to give his reaction to the Philadelphia Eagles firing Chip Kelly after a rough season, going 6-9 with one more game still remaining. Smith, who has been hinting since before the 2015 NFL season began that Kelly’s team decisions of who to trade or release were racially driven, said he was surprised with the decision to fire Kelly this week as opposed to next, but that he is not surprised he was fired. As Smith tells it, he was stopped on the streets of Philadelphia by a group of Eagles players, who told him their now former head coach does not seem “comfortable” with them. “They got out of the car when they spotted me, came up to me, and started talking about this guy named Chip Kelly, who happens to be their coach. They said, ‘Stephen A, this is a different type of cat, he doesn’t seem to be somebody who is comfortable with us.” Follow Trent Baker on Twitter @MagnifiTrent

So they’ve been going through the sf channels, 450 advisers went to Iraq last summer. … And I think we really do have to take a holistic approach to this. I think what the administration has come to the conclusion of, despite all of the Machiavellian and geopolitical trade that’s been going on is that you have to align yourself with ground forces directly.
