CNN’s Tapper: White House Now Resembles the Red Wedding From ‘Game of Thrones’
Monday on CNN’s “The Lead,” while discussing the now-former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci’s exit, host Jake Tapper said the White House was “resembling” the Red Wedding from HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Tapper’s reference of the “Red Wedding” alludes to a “Game of Thrones” episode that featured a brutal wedding day massacre of several main characters brought on by a betrayal of an alliance between the Stark family and Freys during the War of the Five Kings. Tapper said, “We’re going to start with big breaking news in the politics lead today. Could someone have predicted so much staff turnover from a man whose catch phrase is ‘you’re fired?’ Adding to the growing list, it’s Anthony Scaramucci gone after just a week and change on the job. His official start date was supposed to be mid-August, for what that’s worth. In the last hour at the White House, President Trump made no mention of the Scaramucci departure.” “[W]e mentioned that long list of exits in just over six months and other high-profile departures include Reince Priebus out last week as chief of staff Sean Spicer out as the week before as press secretary, Mike Dubke he was the previous communication
Amazon Under Federal Investigation over Sales to Individuals Linked to Iran
Amazon is currently under federal investigation following the revelation that the company may have violated U.S. sanctions against Iran and could have sold consumer goods to at least one individual on the government’s terrorism watchlist. SiliconBeat reports that in their quarterly financial report published on July 28th, Amazon revealed that they had sold approximately $300 worth of goods to an individual on the government’s terrorist watchlist. A separate regulatory filing from February showed another sale of $1300 made to another individual on the list. The July 28th document appears to show multiple other high-value sales that would violate the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act and possibly other U.S. sanctions and export-control laws. As a result, the Commerce and Treasury departments are actively investigating Amazon, the Iranian sales, and the customer on the terrorist watch list. If wrongdoing is found on the part of Amazon, the company may face heavy penalties from the Commerce and Treasury departments. SiliconBeat reports that Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment but later stated that they plan to “cooperate fully” with all investigation efforts. The disclosure from July 28th appears to show that between January 2012 and June 2017, Amazon sold $24,700 worth of “consumer

Sanders: Trump Felt Scaramucci’s Comments ‘Inappropriate’ – All WH Staff Will Report to Kelly
During Monday’s White House Press Briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated that President Trump thought outgoing White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci’s comments were not appropriate and announced that all White House staff will report to Chief of Staff John Kelly. Sanders stated Scaramucci “does not have a role, at this time, in the Trump administration.” Sanders responded to a question on whether Scaramucci left voluntarily or was asked to leave by the president or Kelly by stating she wouldn’t get into the process. Sanders was then asked, “[W]as it something about the chain of command, or did it have anything to do with that interview that Scaramucci did last week?” She responded, “Look, the president firmly felt that Anthony’s comments were inappropriate for a person in that position, and he [President Trump] didn’t want to burden General Kelly, also, with that line of succession. As I think we’ve made clear a few times over the course of the last couple days to several of you individually, but General Kelly has the full authority to operate within the White House and all staff will report to him.” Sanders later added, “I think Anthony wants General Kelly to
