CNN’s ‘New Day’: Hillary Email Scandal ‘Real,’ Hurts Her More in General Election
Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” panelists Chris Cuomo, Alisyn Camerota and David Gregory all agreed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s FBI investigation into her handling of classified email on a private server during her tenure as the Obama administration’s secretary of state will be a big deal in a general election. Host Chris Cuomo said, “The email stuff is real, not because she is about to go to jail. It is true that she hasn’t been named a target of the investigation. But that is because the DOJ does that. It’s still with the FBI. This is distinction without the difference. For voters on the Democrat side they don’t see the email issue the way the GOP does. So it may not matter now but the idea that it doesn’t matter at all going forward is putting it too strongly.” Alisyn Camerota agreed saying, “Even The New York Times, in their endorsement said we believe she’s the best candidate but the email questions are legitimate.” David Gregory added, “Yes. And look, it goes to what people don’t trust or believe about Hillary Clinton. That is a big issue and her team knows it. She knows it. I don’t think it

Watch: Andrea Mitchell, Joe Scarborough Debate Hillary Emails — ‘I Don’t Think There Is Legal Culpability Here’
Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell said that according to her sources, there is no “legal culpability” since there was “no intent” and that a motive would have to proved. “Honestly, from my sources, and they go pretty high up including — including some of the people who are doing the review for the — inside the intelligence community, I don’t think there is the legal culpability here. I don’t think there is going to be what has been widely reported. For a bunch of reasons. You have to prove intent, you have to prove motive. I mean, you’re a lawyer. I only play one on television. Scarborough, who prior to being a congressman practiced law in Florida, insisted that wasn’t true and questioned the defense Mitchell offered, which her sources had apparently laid out for her. Partial transcript as follows: SCARBOROUGH: You actually don’t. Whoever is telling you that — no, no, whoever is telling you that is not telling you what the statute actually says. MITCHELL: No, no, no The statute says — SCARBOROUGH: The statute also says that if you were reckless in the use of classified — use of information, then that also is an

Hillary: ‘Nothing New’ on Emails, ‘Selective Leaking’
Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was asked about the controversy involving her email arrangement while she was secretary of state under President Barack Obama. Clinton likened the controversy to the investigation of her role during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and that the issues was not on voters’ minds. “Well, Alisyn, there is nothing new,” Clinton said. “And I think the facts are quite helpful here. It’s a little bit like what the Republicans and others have tried to do with respect to Benghazi. Just a lot of innuendo, a lot of attacks. I just know that after I testified for 11 hours, answered every question, nothing new came up. Most voters have made up their minds. And I’m grateful for that. The same here. And I think most of the voters who have followed this know exactly what’s going on here. I never made any different explanation than the one that I have made over and over again. I take classified information seriously. I did not send or receive any material marked classified and I want all of these released. This is a dispute about retroactive classification, quite
