The South Florida Council of Firefighters endorsed Marco today in his re-election campaign. The organization represents approximately 3,500 firefighters and their families across South Florida.
“We commend Marco on his willingness to run for, and serve, in public office and because of that, the South Florida Council of Fire Fighters (SFCFF) has endorsed his re-election campaign. Marco has been a leader for our community, sponsoring the 9/11 James Zadroga Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act, as well as advocating for the National Firefighter Cancer Registry. Marco has honorably served the citizens of Florida and the interests of the men and women employed in the Fire Service, who have made the protection of life and property their life’s work. We wish Marco every success and look forward to continuing to work with him,” said David Perez, President of South Florida Council of Firefighters.
Marco has been an advocate in the U.S. Senate for first responders, supporting the 9/11 James Zadroga Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act; and recently co-sponsoring the bipartisan Firefighter Cancer Registry Act, which would create a national registry to monitor firefighters’ cancer to study the connection between harmful toxins and the health risks to which first responders are exposed.
