Why I give: A family story
“My family and friends are so grateful to President Obama,” explains Stephen, a student and single dad living in Colorado.
“I was unemployed, and because of the President’s insistence on protecting unemployment insurance, I was able to get a little bit of extra money, just enough to take care of my daughter and put food on the table. My sister is a hair stylist who was able to start her own small business thanks to tax breaks pushed by the President. And thanks to Obama, my friends who were in Iraq are now back home with their families.”
And now Stephen is in school, getting a degree in education that will help him find a job and support his family.
“My education is 100% enabled by the President. It’s only because of my Pell Grant that I can actually afford the tuition. I want to show my daughter that anyone can get a college degree and find a good job. I want to be a role model for her.”
Stephen still finds the cash to donate because President Obama’s re-election is that important to him.
“I’m going to donate again as soon as funds become available. I owe it to the President.”
