Will Secret Service Investigate HBO for ‘Game of Thrones’ Bush Beheading?
HBO’s supposed faux pas in placing a model of George W. Bush’s head atop a spike in its hit series Game of Thrones may in fact have run afoul of the law.
Back in 2006, ABC News reported on a faux documentary made about the possible assassination of President Bush, titled Death of a President. While the White House and Secret Service remained silent on the movie, ABC News quoted former Secret Service staffers on whether it merited investigation:
"It puts ideas in people's heads," said Patrick Lennon, who shadowed five presidents during his 22 years with the Secret Service. "With the amount of nuts out there, who knows what they could conjure up after seeing a film like this."
Lennon says the Secret Service will likely request an advance copy of the movie to evaluate how dangerous it is.
As recently as a few months ago, Ted Nugent had to meet with the Secret Service after he said, “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” Yet the depiction of a former president’s head on a gate means nothing to the Secret Service.
Calls to the Secret Service were not returned.
