Wasserman Schultz: Al Gore Won Florida In 2000, ‘The Supreme Court Elected the President’

On Friday’s broadcast of “MSNBC Live,” former DNC Chair Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) asserted that Florida “absolutely” voted for Al Gore in 2000 and “The Supreme Court elected the president.” Wasserman Schultz said, “We won five of the last six presidential elections for the Democratic nominee here in Florida, because we out-organized and out-mobilized the Republicans.” She added, “[I]n the average of polls, Hillary Clinton is ahead here in Florida, but the reason that Florida will be blue, just like it was in 2012 and in 2008, and in every election since –.” Anchor Hallie Jackson then cut in, “Not in 2000 or 2004.” Wasserman Schultz then stated, “In 2000, it absolutely was blue. The Supreme Court elected the president.  Al Gore won the state of Florida in 2000, although not the presidency.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
