DNC Vice Chair Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) argued that it’s “crazy” to refuse to say the phrase “Islamic extremism” on Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time.” Host Bill Maher said, “I’ve been trying to convince liberals, some of them, that they really need to go back to school on this issue of Islam, and what it means to be a liberal. And you I think are on the same page, you say you don’t like when it Secretary Kerry, for example, says that we should say oh, it comes from poverty or I think he said it comes from thrill seeking, Islamic extremism, and President Obama says we shouldn’t even say ‘Islamic extremism,’ we should say ‘violent extremism,’ which is just crazy, right?” Gabbard responded, “It is crazy. They do matter, words mean things, and this is what we need to look at as we look at how do we identify our enemies so that we can defeat them? By saying that they’re looking for thrill seeking, or that economic prosperity will solve the problem. Give them a big house, give them a skateboard, send them on their way. HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher railed against “the PC police” and the “lazy liberalism” they practice by being offended over Halloween costumes on Friday. Maher said, “the PC police have to stop lecturing us on which Halloween costumes are inappropriate, or insensitive and leave Halloween to the people it was created for, middle-aged gay men. The fake outrage people get 364 days a year to be hyper-sensitive about everything. there has to be one day where going too far isn’t just okay, it’s celebrated. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) declared, “I don’t think we have a plan for destroying ISIL,” and “I think our objective today is to degrade them, to keep them on their heels” on Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hardball.” Murphy said, “There’s no white knights there. And what we have already seen when we try to run this train and equip program, is that the so-called Syrian moderates really aren’t interested in just fighting ISIS, right? They want US help to be able to fight ISIL and to fight Assad. And so, this fine line that we’re trying to walk here, which is to put special forces on the ground to only fight one set of bad guys, when inevitably we’re going to be asked to be drawn into the fight against Assad is impossible.
