Rosenstein: Lawmakers and White House Officials Could Be Prosecuted for Leaking Classified Info
On this weekend’s broadcast on “Fox News Sunday,” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said White House officials and members of Congress could be prosecuted for leaking classified information. Partial transcript as follows: WALLACE: Some of the people who engaged in leaks, I don’t have to tell you, are not the so-called members of the deep state faceless bureaucrats inside intelligence agencies. They are White House officials. They are members of Congress. If you find any of them have committed these leaks, have disclosed classified information, will you prosecute? ROSENSTEIN: Chris, what we need to look at in every leak referral we get, we look at the fact and circumstances — what was the potential harm caused by the leak, what were the circumstances? That’s more important to us than who it is, who is the leaker. So, if we identify somebody, no matter what their position is, if they violated the law, in that case, warrants prosecution, will prosecute it. WALLACE: Including White House officials and members of Congress? ROSENSTEIN: Including anybody who breaks the law. (h/t Daily Caller) Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN
Maxine Waters: People Are Leaking Because Trump ‘Cannot Be Trusted’
Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said people were leaking on President Donald Trump “because he defined himself as someone that cannot be trusted.” Waters said, “The president gave classified information to Russians in the White House. Our ally, Israel, was very upset with us. So start with him, number one. Number two, if people around you are leaking in the way they’re doing, they’re trying to tell us something.” She continued, “Of course we don’t want classified information leaked out, and I don’t think they would do that with a credible president. They’re doing that to this president because he defined himself as someone that cannot be trusted, someone that will get this country in trouble. And so I welcome the leaks. I welcome the information. That keeps us focused on him and talking about what is wrong with him.” Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN
Gutierrez: Trump’s Immigration Plan ‘Absolutely’ Racist
Sunday on MSNBC, Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) said the Republican immigration bill endorsed by President Donald Trump was an “absolutely a racist proposal.” Gutiérrez said, “I think this is absolutely a racist proposal. There is no doubt in my mind. If you take diversity visas, Alex. everyone knows 90 percent of the diversity visas go to who? Black people who live in Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa or the Caribbean. And you just eliminate it? Senator Rubio’s parents wouldn’t have made it through this. My parents wouldn’t have made it through it. They didn’t have a college education. They couldn’t speak English and, yet, Rubio went on to the Senate, and I went on to the House of Representatives.” He continued, “I think this is an anti-American and it is based — Alex, when you talk about, when you have a president of the United States that walks down those escalators and announce he’s running for president and says Mexicans are murderers, rapists, drug dealers and we need to get rid of them. And then you say, let’s make English— English has always been an important part of our immigration policy, but you know when you pass an English test, Alex, you
