During the online “Overtime” segment of Friday’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time,” American Urban Radio Networks White House Correspondent and Washington Bureau Chief and CNN Political Analyst April Ryan stated former Vice President Al Gore was like Chicken Little on climate change, and right now, the sky is falling. Ryan said, “Katrina happened to low-income black people in the 9th Ward. You’re seeing what’s happening in the Virgin Islands. You’re seeing what’s happening in Puerto Rico. People who live on the water — people who are in these communities tend to be those — the least of these. So, I mean, people don’t — and I hate to say this, but this is the way society is, they don’t listen to us. It took a former vice president to stand up and speak. … [H]e was like Chicken Little, ‘The sky is falling. The sky is falling.’ It is falling now.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Steyn: ‘In the Space of About 20 Minutes, We’ve Gone From ‘The Confederate Flag Is Racist’ to ‘The Star-Spangled Banner Is Racist”
Friday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” conservative commentator Mark Steyn reacted to the report that a Massachusetts librarian deemed the works of children’s book author Dr. Seuss as racist. Steyn pointed out how things being deemed as racist as progressed in recent months, including the national anthem and Dr. Seuss. “I think when you said, it’s trashing anything older than the milk in your fridge – that’s right, Tucker,” Steyn said. “This is like year zero in Cambodia. The world has to be created anew. So, in the space of about 20 minutes, we have gone from the Confederate flag is racist to ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is racist. We’ve gone from General Lee is racist to Dr. Seuss is racist. We have gone from, ‘Way down on the levee in old Ala-bammy’ is minstrelsy to ‘The Cat in the Hat’ is minstrelsy, which is actually this librarian’s argument. I looked up the piece she referenced in the ‘Journal of Social Justice Librarians’ or whatever it is, and it is incredibly moronic. It is part of the dumbing down of American society.” “The piece argues that the Cat in the Hat’s bow tie is meant to be an evocation of 19th-century racist

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Representative Darren Soto (D-FL) stated that the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico “has already become a Katrina.” Soto said, “Well, this has already become a Katrina. We have American citizens, who pledge allegiance to our flag, serve in the military, pay taxes, and they don’t know when the power’s going to get back on. They don’t know whether they’re going to get water, whether they’re going to get food. And so, we need Trump administration to get up and act.” He added that his Katrina statement meant “That it’s an act of negligence, that they completely underestimated the scale of this, and are only now starting to react, after we stood on our desks for days screaming about the lives in jeopardy.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
