A journalist working for the Telegraph has asked her Twitter followers to consider if they would kill UKIP leader Nigel Farage, comparing him to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. “You know that time travel conundrum: would you kill baby Hitler? Same but Nigel Farage”, wrote Catherine Gee, who claims to have been “writing about culture for the Telegraph since 2007”, and has also written for the Guardian, Western Mail and Clash. She is from Lancaster, but is currently living in North London, and appears to have supported the campaign for the UK to Remain within the European Union. She is followed by several prominent ‘Remain’ campaigners, including Sir Richard Branson. “Sell him to an African family as a baby. That would be beautiful”, she added minutes later. David Coburn, UKIP’s MEP for Scotland, asked if she had “taken leave of [her] senses”. It is just weeks since a serving British politician was brutally murdered, and many on Twitter were shocked that a professional journalist would make such a statement – satirical or not. “Really?
