A Facebook post for a protest dubbed “Destroy the Confederacy” at Sam Houston Park in Houston on Saturday warns “*Do NOT bring children.” A group “committed to protecting Texas and Texas History,” “This Is Texas Freedom Force” (TITFF), says demonstrators plan to tear down a Confederate statue. They also warn there will be violence.
Wounded Baton Rouge Officer Sues Black Lives Matter, Five Leaders
A police officer who was badly wounded in the ambush and execution of three Baton Rouge officers on July 17, 2016, filed a lawsuit against Black Lives Matter (BLM) and five of its leaders on Friday. The officer urges that BLM and its leaders “not only, incited the violence against police in retaliation for the death of black men shot by police, but also did nothing to dissuade the ongoing violence and injury to police.”
Trump DOJ Urges Court to End Texas Voter ID Lawsuit
The Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a pleading Wednesday saying the judge should take no more action in the voter ID lawsuit against Texas because the State’s new law “eradicates any discriminatory effect or intent” of the prior law.
