‘Morning Joe’ Panel: Wasserman Schultz Rigging Debate Schedule to Benefit Hillary
Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” a panel including Bloomberg’s Al Hunt and “With All Due Respect” host John Heilemann agreed with Democratic presidential candidate former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD) that Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) is limiting the number of debates to only six in order to to benefit front-runner Hillary Clinton. Host Joe Scarborough asked, “Are they rigging it for Hillary? Is that what the deal is? Will anybody say what’s happening here?” Heilemann said, “I will sure. Look, every one of those candidates who is not Hillary Clinton has a strong argument to make that it seems like the party is protecting Hillary Clinton.” Hunt added, “Yeah, sure they are. I think, by the way, that O’Malley exaggerates the importance. The problem the Democrats have is they ought to have a Reince Priebus type as their chair person. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of Congress, isn’t doing anything
Perry: Trump’s Rhetoric ‘Political Theater,’ We Are Not Building a 1,933-Mile Wall
Sunday on Fox News, Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) said his rival Donald Trump’s “rhetoric makes for good political theater,” but “the fact is, it’s 1,933 miles from Tijuana to El Paso to Brownsville, and you’re not going to build a wall on that distance.” Perry said, “Well, rhetoric makes for good political theater, but the fact is, it’s 1,933 miles from Tijuana to El Paso to Brownsville and you’re not going to build a wall on that distance. What you are going to do is put the personnel in the right place, have the strategic fencing in the metropolitan areas. And what’s really missing are the aviation assets flying 24/7 with the ability to look down and analyze what going on on both sides of the border. And then when it’s clearly illegal, fast response teams to go and interdict. That’s how you secure the border.

McCaskill on Trump: ‘Very American’ to Be ‘Distracted By the Shiny Object’
Sunday on MSNBC, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said of the success of Donald Trump’s Republican candidacy will fade because “it’s very American to be distracted by the shiny object.” McCaskill said, “It’s almost like a demolition derby. Everyone goes, why would you watch it? But you can’t look away. That’s what it reminds me of. It’s very American for us to be distracted by the shiny object. That’s what this is. People need to keep this in context. His unfavorables are much higher than Hillary Clinton’s. He is only getting—depending on the poll—about 25 percent of Republican voters. That means 75 percent of them don’t want him. By the time this settles out, Americans will decide to elect the person president that shows the most strength in stability, not ability to be bombastic and with bluff and bluster.” Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN
Christie: Hillary a ‘Disgrace,’ Thinks Presidency Is a ‘Familial Ascendancy’
On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Republican presidential candidate Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) said Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is arrogant for not answering questions and added the presidency is not a “familial ascendancy.” On Hillary Clinton, Christie said she “believes only certain laws apply to her.” “Her arrogance, her arrogance that she won’t answer questions,” he continued. “You heard it yesterday or two days ago with Ed Henry. He asked three questions and she said I’ll answer one because that’s what you deserve. Thank you very much your highness. We appreciate it but this is not royalty in the Untied States. You have to battle, fight, and answer questions by the American people to become president of the United States. This is not a familial ascendancy.” On Clinton comparing Republicans to terrorist groups, Christie said, “There’s a real uniter. That’s the woman you want sitting in the Oval Office to bring our country
Sen Warren: GOP Far Out of Mainstream America
Sunday on WCVB’s “On The Record,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) wondered “how far out of the mainstream can Republicans stay and be a viable party?” Discussing relations with Cuba, defunding Planned Parenthood, immigration and student loans Warren said, “How far out of step can Republican stay with just sort of the heart of where the American people are? she added, “How far out of the mainstream can Republicans stay and be a viable party?” Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN
Jeb: Trump’s Wall Won’t Work
Sunday on New York City’s AM 970’s “The Cats Round Table” hosted by John Catsimatidis, Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) said his rival Donald Trump’s proposal to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border won’t work. After talking to mayors and law enforcement on the Texas-Mexico border, Bush said, “What they said is a wall doesn’t work. It just doesn’t work. You can’t build a wall on the rugged terrain that exists there.” He continued, “What Donald Trump is proposing is a wall that can’t be built. And if it was to be built it would be hundreds of billions of dollars. He wants everybody to be deported which will tear family life asunder, would cost an arm and a leg, hundred of billions of dollars again and it will probably be unconstitutional.” “It’s not realistic and its not conservative,” he added. Jorge Ramos: Latinos Won’t Forget Trump Promoting Bigotry and Hatred
Sunday on “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” while discussing his confrontation with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump last week at a press conference, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos said next year at the polls Latino voters “won’t forget,” Trump “promoting in his speeches bigotry and hatred.” Ramos said, “I think it’s very important that as journalists we challenge those who are in power. And I think it’s very dangerous that he wants to do the mass deportation in history, that would cost more than $137 billion. And I think it’s very dangerous that he’s promoting in his speeches bigotry and hatred against immigrants. After I was expelled from that press conference, I saw a man, a Trump sympathizer who said, get out of my country. Interesting because I’m also a U.S. citizen, but this happened just seconds after he told me, go back to Univision. Those messages of hatred that’s precisely
Walker: Talk About Changing the Constitution a ‘Distraction’
Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” while discussing the controversy over calls for changing birthright citizenship in the 14th amendment Republican presidential candidate Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) said when politicians bring up changing the Constitution, they are just trying to distract. Walker said, “What I have point out repeatedly since the beginning of this year, people have heard me say this a thousand times, secure the border, enforce the laws, no amnesty, go forward in a way that provides for a legal immigration system that puts a priority in American working families and their wages in a way that will improve the American economy. I said it — whether it’s talking about the 14th amendment or anything else, until we secure the borders and enforce the law, we shouldn’t talk about any other issue. Politicians that do are trying to distract from the fact that for years in this town, in
