Howard Dean: Trump ‘Has No Conception of What Being a Racist Is Because He Is One’
Monday on MSNBC, former Democratic National Committee chairman and former Gov. Howard Dean (D-VT) said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s outreach to minority voters will fail because he lacked the “conception” of knowing what a racist is “because he is one.” Dean said, “Well, let me tell you how incredibly incredibly incompetent Donald Trump is on the race issue. He goes to a black church and I think people probably are not going to vote for him but appreciate it. And then he tweets this morning that because Barack Obama has been such a bad president, there won’t be another black president for many years. I mean, unbelievable. You reach out to a group one day and the next day you trash their president, their person they care about. And then say that all black people are tainted with the same problem. This is insane! He has no conception of what being a racist is, because he is one. I mean, it’s just — I don’t think he’s a terrible racist that wears a hood. He just has no clue about what he’s talking about.” Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN

Hillary Discusses Monica Lewinsky Affair — ‘It Was Really Hard,’ ‘It Was Painful’
In a preview of an interview set to air on CNN later today, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was asked about her husband former President Bill Clinton affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky in the late 1990s. Hillary Clinton described it “hard” and “painful” and explained how she coped with it. “It was really hard,” she said. “It was painful. And I was so supported by my friends. My friends just rallied around. They would come. They would try to make me laugh. They would recommend books to read. We would go for long walks. We would hang out, you know eat bad food. I mean, just the kind of things you do with your friends. And it was something that you just had to get up every day and have to deal with while still carrying on a public set of responsibilities. So it was very, very challenging.” Follow Jeff Poor on Twitter @jeff_poor
Pelosi: ‘Too Much Is Being Made of’ Hillary Emails
Monday on “CBS This Morning,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) downplayed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s potential misuse of her email communications while secretary of state. Pelosi argued too much was being made out of this considering the number of things the nation’s top diplomat deals with overall. “I think they shouldn’t be that concerned,” Pelosi said. “I think that the secretary of state deals with a large number of issues — 30,000 emails — we’re talking about a few that may have been marked ‘confidential.’ ‘Classified…’ and ‘secret’ and ‘highly sensitive’ is where it becomes more problematic.” “The fact is that whatever it was that Hillary Clinton dealt with in that manner had no threat to our security,” she added. “And I think that too much has been made of this.” Follow Jeff Poor on Twitter @jeff_poor
