On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hardball,” anchor Chris Matthews stated that President Trump isn’t releasing his tax returns “because there’s a lot in there he doesn’t want us to know, like how about not paying taxes?” Matthews said, “President Trump wouldn’t release his tax returns during his campaign, but political pressure’s building for the president to just that, at least turn it over to the Intelligence Committee so they can look at it. We’re going to talk about that, and a lot more in ‘Hardball.’ By the way, he’s not going to give away those tax returns. We can pound on that door, and pound on that door, and he ain’t giving them away, because there’s a lot in there he doesn’t want us to know, like how about not paying taxes?” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Right On Cue, Soros-Financed MoveOn.Org Holds DC Protest Demanding Sessions’ Resignation
Right on cue, the George Soros-financed MoveOn.org progressive activist group on Thursday organized a protest outside the U.S. Department of Justice building calling for the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The protest was organized fairly quickly. It was held mere hours after reports surfaced that Sessions held two conversations with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. while he was Alabama’s senator and served on the Armed Services Committee. Sessions maintains that the conversations did not concern the 2016 presidential campaign. He served as an informal advisor to Trump during the presidential race. #SessionsMustGo pic.twitter.com/EUBGahDhH3 — MoveOn.org (@MoveOn) March 2, 2017 Mother Jones reported the crowd at the MoveOn.org protest was about 100. ABC’s Local affiliate in Washington, DC reported “hundreds” attended. Among the speakers was Rep. Sheila Jackson (D-TX), who proclaimed, “False testimony counters any right you have to remain Attorney General of the United States of America.” The industrious MoveOn.org also organized an online petition titled, “Sessions must go; special prosecutor must be appointed now.” The petition, already signed by 158,000 people, states: The only way for Americans to be able to trust that our government can act with integrity — to know that our top leaders aren’t compromised by
Donald Trump Vows Renewed Expansion of Navy, Calls for Twelve Carrier Fleet
President Donald Trump visited the soon-to-be commissioned U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier in Newport News, Virginia, promising to restore the greatness of the American Navy. “I just spoke with Navy and industry leaders and discussed my plans to undertake a major expansion of our entire Navy fleet, including having the 12-carrier Navy we need,” he said during remarks on the ship. Wearing a red USA hat, Trump toured the ship and met with Navy officials and personnel before delivering his remarks, swapping out his presidential hat for a Navy ship hat and jacket. “Our carriers are the centerpiece of American military might overseas,” Trump said, remarking that the ship was “four and a half acres of combat power.” Trump said the Navy was at the smallest that it had been since World War I and called for sustained stable funding to build it up. He promised that his budget would restore the greatness of the military, with a significant boost to defense spending. “America has always been the one that leads the world into the future and my budget will ensure we do so and continue to do exactly that,” he said. “American ships will sail the seas, American planes

Maxine Waters: Sessions’ Russia Connections Will Lead To Trump Impeachment
Thursday on MSNBC while discussing allegations Attorney General Jeff Sessions met with Russian officials as reported by The Washington Post late Wednesday night, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said an investigation into the Trump administration’s connections with Russia “will lead to impeachment of the president.” Partial transcript as follows: MELVIN: Do you think Senator Jeff Sessions perjured himself? Do you remember that confirmation hearing? WATERS: I do. I think it’s very clear. He did not qualify that meeting in any way. He did not say, yes, I’m a surrogate working in the campaign for the president — for Donald Trump, and I met with the Russian ambassador on a couple of times, but it had nothing to do with sanctions or anything else. He could have said that if he had wanted to. But when you listen to him and his response, it’s very clear that he omitted sharing that information that he had met with him, period. MELVIN: What’s the appropriate response here? WATERS: Well, you know, he really should step up to the plate and recuse himself. That may make people think better about him. But I think he should resign. I think he should get out. I think it
Spicer: Sessions Should Not Recuse Himself Over ‘False Narrative for Political Purposes’
Thursday in preview clips of an interview with “‘Fox & Friends,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Attorney General Jeff Sessions should not recuse himself over allegations that he met with Russian officials from a Washington Post story published late Wednesday night. He added Democrats were “continuing to push a false narrative for political purposes.” Spicer said, “I think Senator Sessions did his job. He was asked very pointedly if there had been any contact with the Trump campaign in the capacity of him being a surrogate. There was not. He was 100 percent straight with the committee. He did he acknowledge that he met in his capacity as a United States senator on the Armed Services committee with the ambassador on a couple occasions, one being after he had given a speech and someone approached him. As you have seen, senators like Ted Cruz have come out and said this is a perfectly normal course of business. I think this is Democrats continuing to push a false narrative for political purposes.” He added, “There is nothing to recuse himself. He was 100 percent straight with the committee. And I think that people who are choosing to play partisan politics with
