The Trump Administration will be able to “flip the switch” on federal funding to the nation’s top-ten sanctuary jurisdictions on day one, says U.S. Representative John Culberson (R-TX). Speaking to a group of supporters in Houston this week, Culberson said existing law allows the Trump Administration to not only stop future funding to these jurisdictions, but actually take back past funding.
Fake News: BBC Claims ‘Cheapest’ Xmas, 3 Days Later Says Brexit Increasing 2016 Prices
The BBC, the most mainstream of mainstream media outlets, has been caught up in a “fake news” controversy after reporting that Christmas was set to be cheaper than ever – only to decide just three days later that costs had in fact rocketed, with Britain’s vote to leave the European Union firmly in the frame. BBC reports Christmas 2016 “cheapest ever”. Reports same data again three days later, but says #Brexit has put up Christmas costs. #FakeNews pic.twitter.com/qu5dBtifEu — Jack Montgomery (@JackBMontgomery) December 16, 2016 The original story, published on November 30th by Personal Finance reporter Brian Milligan, reported brightly that “Christmas 2016 may be the cheapest ever”. It cited research by Good Housekeeping, which has been publishing a Christmas dinner index since 2009. Tracking eleven essential ingredients, Good Housekeeping calculated that a family of six could tuck in for as little as £2.48 per head this year, provided they shopped around for the best prices. If buying all the items at a single store, shoppers would get their best deal at low-cost retailer Aldi, where they could gather all the necessaries for just £22.03. Milligan also cited separate research on Christmas trees, which can be bought for a mere eighth
DNC Chair Brazile: Trump Victory ‘Tainted’ By Russian Intrusion
Sunday on ABC”s “This Week,” interim chairman of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile disputed President-elect Donald Trump’s legitimacy because of the Russian’s hacking intended to interfere with the 2016 presidential election, saying the result was “tainted by this intrusion.” Partial transcript as follows: RADDATZ: Donna, given all you said about this hack, do you think Donald Trump’s win was legitimate? BRAZILE: No, I was involved a close election in 2000. And it was an election where we believed that every vote should count, and every voter should matter. At the end of the day, the electors had an obligation to do their job. And George Bush won the election, and Al Gore had the most electoral — I mean, the most popular vote. Donald Trump used this information in ways to also sow division. I was very disappointed in his repeated usage some of the stolen information. He used it as if he received daily talking points. But that’s politics. It’s behind us. What we should focus on now is how do we protect our country from foreign intrusion? How do we protect and strengthen our democratic institutions? And how do we protect votes. RADDATZ: Was the election legit?
Scannell: Good Riddance to Pre-Trump GOP
When the 2016 presidential campaign started in mid-2015, there was a wide but uninspiring field of candidates to choose from. Most seemed to have solid resumes and name recognition, but all seemed just like different versions of what we’d grown accustomed to and were destined to disappoint us as Republican primary voters.

Gates Defends Tillerson on Putin Ties — ‘Being Friendly Doesn’t Make You Friends’
Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said of President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of state Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson’s ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin “being friendly doesn’t make you friends.” Gates said, “He is familiar with countries from Indonesia to Latin America to the Middle East and Russia. It seems to me having somebody who is secretary of state who has dealt with a lot of these leaders, who knows them, knows how they negotiate, knows how they think is a huge assess for the United States. As I have said, I think the second he raises his hand to take that oath, his only goal will be to do what’s in the best interests of the United States.” He added, ‘Clearly, the CEO of any U.S. company that does business around the world is going to want to be on friendly relationships with the leaders and governments of those countries where they do business, but being friendly doesn’t make you friends. After all, if you wanted to show pictures, I hoisted a glass of vodka more than one time with the head of the KGB. And it looked like it was friendly
