In 1941, when Jack Kerouac boarded a bus for New Haven, the Columbia running back never stopped at the Yale Bowl. Shamed for arriving at training camp a day late and subsequently botching Columbia Coach Lou Little’s misdirection plays, Kerouac quit football in early fall. “As if I joined football for ‘deception,’ for God’s sake,” Kerouac wrote.

Maher: George Soros Is Different From The Kochs And Adelson
HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher said it’s a “false equivalency” to compare liberal megadonor George Soros to the Kochs and Sheldon Adelson on Friday. After Maher argued that there’s too much money in politics, and specifically cited Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers, Roger Stone stated, “Let’s throw George Soros in there, though.” Maher responded, “That’s a false equivalency, because George Soros is advocating against his personal interests. That’s not the same thing with the Koch brothers. George Soros wants to be taxed more, not less.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
Maher: ‘CNBC Is Not The Liberal Media’
HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher declared, “CNBC is not the liberal media” on Friday. Maher said, “Now, I heard all day today that the liberal media, first of all, that debate was on CNBC. CNBC is not the liberal media. CNBC is the channel for wannabe masters of the universe who spend all day in their corner offices jerking off to capitalism.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
Marco’s Plan to Strengthen and Protect Social Security and Medicare
Social Security and Medicare are crucial pillars of America’s social safety net. Our nation’s elderly should be able to rely on them for financial security and peace of mind. However, both programs are on an unsustainable path, and if the next president isn’t willing to undertake reforms that will modernize and strengthen them, they simply…

Maher: I’m Sympathetic To People In Authority Because Parents Are ‘Underzealous’
HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher stated that he has “sympathy for people in authority, because I think parents just let kids do anything nowadays” on Friday. Maher said that the police officer who bodyslammed a high school student to the ground was “horrendous to treat a child like this, a teenager.” “But I also have sympathy for people in authority, because I think parents just let kids do anything nowadays, so they never listen to authority. … Am I wrong that parents are just not doing the job? It’s overzealous policing and underzealous parenting.” Comedian David Spade agreed with Maher, saying, “I saw another video of a guy slamming the principal down, and when I was in school i was scared, maybe because of my mom, but I was scared and respectful of teachers, and I think that’s getting a little blurrier. … It’s back and forth, you know, the teachers get too tough with them, but then the kids that you’re actually scared of in classes that are 15, 16. Maher added, “When we were kids there was a — an alliance between the parents and the teachers that the kids could not drive a wedge through, and
Don Lemon on Hillary Protest: Black Lives Matter Activists ‘Need to Grow Up’
Friday on CNN’s “Situation Room,” while discussing Black Lives Matter protesters interrupting Hillary Clinton at a rally today, Don Lemon said the protesters “need to grow up.” Lemon said, “John Lewis, you said an activist and corrected yourself, Wolf, and said icon and I would add legend, someone who when he walks into the room, I get very quiet with reverence because he’s a person who marched with Dr. King and part of the reason I’m able to sit here on television now and be in the position that I’m in. And if you don’t respect him who asks you to have some manners, at least, and listen to Secretary Clinton, then I don’t know who you will listen to. Listen, I know that Black Lives Matter, you know, it was formed out of anger, but now they are at the table and their tactics need to change. They need to grow up and start listening. Hillary Clinton is an ally. Nothing says Black Lives Matter or don’t matter when you’re shouting down an ally. She wants to help. She’s open. She may very well be the next leader of the free world. You don’t want to shout that person
Dem Rep Gabbard: Hillary Supported a Libya Policy That Strengthened Terrorists, Obama’s Helping Extremists In Syria
DNC Vice Chair Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) criticized Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s advocacy for the wars in Iraq and Libya, and “the administration is essentially working hand in hand with the Islamic extremists” in Syria on Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time.” Gabbard said, “Here’s what i’m concerned about, Bill, is that we end up in November of next year, and we end up with the frontrunner Hillary, and many of the Republican candidates that we’re seeing, who are essentially interventionists, and who are taking positions that will put us in yet another position, just as we’ve seen over the last decade of getting into a regime change, nation-building mission, which is essentially what they’re advocating for right now in Syria.” After host Bill Maher stated that Hillary’s “kind of a hawk herself.” Gabbard responded, “Absolutely. She was a cheerleader for the Iraq War when she was in the Senate. As secretary of state, she was the — one of the strongest advocates for getting rid of Gaddafi, and we see exactly the results of that in Libya today where — in both of those instances, in Iraq as well as in Libya, the end
