Labour’s under-resourced compliance unit has secretly suspended 50 party members over anti-Semitic and racist comments, 20 within the last fortnight alone. With the Labour Party bracing itself for the loss of more than 100 seats at Thursday’s local elections, and an admission from London mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan that his campaign has already been hurt by the issue, it has been revealed that 50 members were secretly suspended amid the ongoing anti-Semitism row. Senior party sources have identified the massive influx of hard-left activists during Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership campaign as a reason Labour’s compliance unit has become swamped, reports The Telegraph. One source said: “There are just six people in the compliance unit with one more joining after the [European Union] referendum and frankly, it’s nowhere near enough. “They can’t cope with the number of new members that have joined since Jeremy became leader, they need more resources.” The newspaper reports that the 16 suspensions which have already been made public since October merely represent “the tip of the iceberg”, with the number of members actually suspended in the past two months being 50, of which up to 20 were within the past two weeks alone. While attempting to focus on this week’s various elections by unveiling a local election poster this morning (pictured above), Mr. Corbyn dismissed

Report: Belgian Police Knew Abdeslam Brothers Planned Terror Act Since 2014
A “highly classified” police watchdog’s report into Belgium’s response to the Paris attacks shows Belgian police had information as early as mid-2014 that the Abdeslam brothers intended to carry out “an irreversible act”. As part of the Paris attacks that killed 130 people on November 13 last year, terrorist Brahim Abdeslam (below, right), then aged 31, blew himself to pieces at the Comptoir Voltaire brasserie (pictured above). Somehow, despite his proximity to others, he failed to kill anyone other than himself in the explosion. Brahim’s younger brother, 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam (below left), allegedly provided logistical support for the attacks, drove the assailants to their target locations, and was involved in the manufacture of their explosives. He evaded capture initially, but was eventually arrested in Brussels just four days before last month’s terror attacks. A “highly classified” report drafted by the Standing Police Monitoring Committee — Comité P — and seen by POLITICO has concluded that well before the murderous attacks, Belgian security forces were aware of the Abdeslam brothers’ Islamic radicalisation, their links to the Paris attacks mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud, and their intention to commit some sort of act. The police anti-terror unit previously claimed it was unable to file a central police database report on the Abdeslam brothers from the Molenbeek neighborhood of Brussels, because it could
Obama Effect? Brexit Odds ‘Take A Beating’ After President’s Intervention
Political betting odds on the UK voting to remain in the European Union (EU) have shortened once more in the wake of U.S. President Obama’s controversial intervention in the referendum debate. The British-based gambling company, Ladbrokes, has reported that after “money poured in over the weekend” backing a Remain result in June’s EU referendum, Brexit odds “took a beating.” At the same time the British pound to dollar rate rose to a near six-week high against the euro as markets were calmed by opinion polls showing a lead for the Remain campaign. According to Ladbrokes, the odds on the UK voting to leave the EU are now 11/4, with the betting company’s referendum barometer placing Brexit at just 26 per cent — one of the lowest points yet. This will have been helped by the fact his pro-remain advocacy was later supported by a spokesman for the current Democratic Party presidential candidate frontrunner, Hillary Clinton, who said: “Hillary Clinton believes that

Belgian Govt Confirms: Muslims DID ‘Dance On Streets’ In Support Of Brussels Attacks
The Prime Minister of Belgium has backed his Interior Minister who has come under fire for stating that some Belgian Muslims had celebrated the recent Brussels attacks. In an interview at the weekend with the Flemish daily newspaper De Standaard, discussing the governments response to the Brussels attacks in March, Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon (pictured above, right) said that “a significant part of the Muslim community danced on the streets.” He continued: “They threw bottles and rocks at the police and media after Salah Abdeslam was arrested. That is the real problem: that third-generation migrants are turning their backs on our society and use violence. It all has to do with our policy.” Discussing how the government might respond, Mr. Jambon added: “Terrorists we can pick up, remove from society. But they are just a pimple. Underneath is a much more difficult cancer to treat. We can handle it. But not overnight.” Mr. Jambon’s claims were attacked by opposition politicians, such as Meyrem Almaci who leads the Green party in the Chamber of Representatives. She said they were “unworthy of a minister” and that his “job is to unite”, adding that he should either produce evidence or apologise to “the entire Muslim community.” As De Morgen
European Council President: Migrant Crisis ‘Never-Ending’, Turkey Pact ‘Not Ideal’
Speaking today to the European Parliament about the “never-ending story” of the migrant crisis, the President of the European Council defended the EU/Turkey pact, while conceding it is not “ideal”. Donald Tusk, the former Prime Minister of Poland and now President of the European Council, was reporting to Members of the European Parliament on the March meeting of his group. Warning that there is no easy option for solving the problem, he said: “From the beginning, I have thought it is a dangerous illusion to believe that there exists an ideal and one-hundred-percent effective solution. “I want to say to all the seekers of the political Holy Grail: you will never find it. Convenient and easy solutions are hard to find in politics, and in this case, they are virtually impossible. “What we are faced with is a perpetual, tenuous and multi-dimensional effort. In fact, something like a never-ending story.” Mr. Tusk agreed with critics that the solutions that are being enacted are “not ideal and will not end our work”. Specifically, he said the “deal with Turkey is not perfect” and that those implementing it are “fully aware of its risks and weaknesses.” Explaining what steps were being taken to address those problems he said: “We did
European Parliament President: ‘We In Europe Have Been On A Downward Path For Some Time Now’
The President of the European Parliament has warned a German newspaper of the danger of an “implosion” of the European Union (EU) if the United Kingdom votes for Brexit in the upcoming In/Out referendum. Martin Schulz (pictured above) — the current President of the European Parliament and former leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats group — was interviewed by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung when he voiced his concern about the effects of Brexit, warning against underestimating the risks of anti-European movements. “We in Europe have been on a downward path for some time now,” Mr. Schulz said, “the trust of many people in institutions overall, whether national or European, has been lost.” The blame, in his opinion, does not lie with the EU but with those heads of state and national governments who choose the easy option of criticising the politico-trading bloc rather than joining Mr. Schulz in making a clear commitment to it. For him the solution to the crisis of trust is not found in Brexit, but in strengthening the existing EU institutions through reform. Failure to do so, he claims, could result in the “implosion of the EU” with Mr. Schulz predicting a domino effect if Britain leaves resulting in “demands for further escape referendums.” Arguing for reforms streamlining how the
Anti-Semitic Incidents Reaching Alarming Levels In Austria, With Concern Over Muslim Migrants
Numbers of anti-Semitic incidents are reaching historically high levels in Austria, according to a Jewish organisation concerned by the numbers of Muslim migrants. Anti-Semitic incidents in Austria grew by 82 per cent between 2014 and 2015, according to the Jewish community representative group Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde (IKG). The report presented by the IKG was collated by the non-governmental organisation ‘Forum Gegen Antisemitismus’ (Forum Against Anti-Semitism), reports the European Jewish Press. Oskar Deutsch (pictured above, left, with President of Austria Heinz Fischer), who is President of the IKG, stated that the significant increase in anti-Semitic incidents — from 255 in 2014, to 465 in 2015 — is partly accounted for by the large growth in online denunciations of Jews, especially Islamic authored anti-Semitic remarks. An interior ministry spokesman said that while the total number of internet postings reported as offensive to Austria’s constitutional protection authority was stable in 2015, the number of such postings liable for use in criminal proceedings doubled from the year before, reports Reuters. The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights has urged the leadership of the politico-trading bloc and its constituent member states to increase efforts to combat anti-Semitic cyber hate, warning that anti-Semitism in Europe does not show signs of diminishing. The IKG’s General Secretary for Jewish Affairs, Raimund Fastenbauer,
Muslim Labour Councillor Suspended Over Claims She Called Hitler ‘Greatest Man In History’
A Labour councillor has been suspended from her party for allegedly tweeting anti-Semitic messages, said to include calling Adolf Hitler the “greatest man in history”. In the latest such scandal to hit Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party, a 20 year old Politics and Sociology student elected last May to Luton Borough Council has been suspended from the party over anti-Semitic tweets uncovered by an investigations team from the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism. Back in February 2013, Aysegul Gurbuz is alleged to have approvingly predicted Iran would use a nuclear weapon to “wipe Israel off the map”, using the hashtag “TEAMAHMADINEJAD”. Other tweets credited to her account include: “Adolf Hitler = greatest man in history” (October 2011); “#iwannameet Hitler” (December 2011); “If it wasn’t for my man Hitler these Jews would’ve wiped Palestine years ago. Sorry but it’s a fact. Not hating on Jews btw” (November 2012); and “The Jews are so powerful in the US it’s disgusting” (January 2013). One of the tweets, from October 2012, even attacked the then leader of Ms. Gurbuz’s party, Ed Miliband. Assessing his chances of becoming Prime Minister, the tweet said of the man who identifies as an atheist and Jewish through his heritage: “Ed Miliband is Jewish. He will never become prime
Postmen Threaten To Bin Government EU Leaflet, Rather Than Be ‘Forced To Be Part Of Propaganda Machine’
Angry postal workers pose a risk to the government’s referendum campaign by threatening to dump the pro-remain EU leaflet described as “one-sided propaganda”. The reaction of postal workers to the government’s EU leaflet — the enticingly-titled “Why the Government Believes That Voting to Remain in the EU is the Best Decision for the UK” — is split. Some are said to be angry that David Cameron will increase their workload by forcing them to deliver his 16 page message to every household in the United Kingdom, some 27 million homes. An even more extreme reaction has been suggested by some particularly rebellious postal workers, reports The Sun. They are threatening to dump copies of the EU leaflet, described by Justice Secretary Michael Gove as “one-sided propaganda”, with one saying: “I want to leave the EU and don’t really want to assist the campaign to remain. I resent being forced to be part of this propaganda machine.” Some have used trade union chatrooms to argue for additional pay for the extra service, which is already costing the taxpayer £9.3 million, saying they are not “unpaid EU messengers”. One contributor explained: “We were only told a couple of days ago that we have to do a bulk posting service to every house by next Wednesday. This is on top of six
