On Friday, HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher commented on Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) victory over fellow candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by saying that Clinton hadn’t been hurt this badly by a Jewish person since Monica Lewinsky. Maher stated, “Bernie Sanders trounced Hillary Clinton by 22 points. The last time, I got to say a Jew hurt Hillary this bad, was Monica Lewinsky.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Van Jones: Clintons ‘Acting Like Obama’s Like Our Dear Leader, Like In North Korea’
CNN Political Contributor and former green jobs advisor Van Jones to President Obama argued that the Clintons “are acting like Obama’s like our dear leader, like in North Korea” in their attacks on Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for his criticisms of President Obama on Friday’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight.” Jones said, “I’m starting to be very concerned about the way that the Clintons are almost making it seem, if you oppose Hillary Clinton, or if you like Sanders, you somehow hate Obama. And that is nuts. I mean, it’s so funny to me, Bernie is supposed to be the Socialist, but the Clintons are acting like Obama’s like our dear leader, like in North Korea, if you criticize the dear leader. That’s nuts. You can have, and you should have, if you’re in public life, a critique of the status quo –.” After host Don Lemon reacted, “I can’t wait to see the right-wing blogs get ahold of what you just said, but go on.” Jones then responded, “Hey, fine! Hey, blow it up! Blow it up! That’s my point, the Clintons need to back off of this, if you — it’s like she’s like Hillary Rodham Obama,
Clinton Spox: Fmr Obama DIA Head Flynn’s Clinton Denunciations ‘Silly’
Clinton Campaign National Spokesperson Brian Fallon argued that the former head of the DIA under President Obama, retired U.S. Army Lt. General Michael Flynn’s denunciations of Clinton were “silly” and the investigation should “be allowed to continue without political interference and without side commentary from people that don’t have an understanding of the fundamental facts” on Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper.” Fallon said, “Well, that’s just silly. I respect the general, but that’s not going to happen. Look, this investigation, this review into the security of the emails, should be allowed to continue without political interference and without side commentary from people that don’t have an understanding of the fundamental facts. And just last week, you saw the same situation unfurl with former Secretary Colin Powell, as well as former aides to Secretary Condoleezza Rice. In both of those two cases, you now have the same agency looking at their emails, personal emails ,and saying that there is information that, in retrospect, they think should be treated as classified. The exact same situation playing out in the two previous secretaries before Secretary Clinton. So I think that tells you everything about the relative seriousness of this.

Former Defense Intel Head Flynn: Hillary Should Drop Out — I’d ‘Be in Jail’ Had I Done Same
Friday on CNN’s “The Lead,” retired U.S. Army Lt. General Michael Flynn, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, discussed his call for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race because she is under investigation by the FBI for how classified materiel was handled on her private email system. Partial transcript as follows: FLYNN: The nation would allow itself to back down a little bit and let this investigation run its course with her not in the limelight and making this such a big, big deal, I really do believe that the severity and the number of resources that are applied, despite what the outcome is, I just think the lack of accountability frankly in a person who should have been much more responsible in her actions as the secretary of state of the United States of America, this is not — TAPPER: No, I get this. FLYNN: If it were me, I would have been out the door and probably in jail. TAPPER: But she and her supporters say this is an issue of overclassification. FLYNN: No. TAPPER: These are things that are classified now but were not at the time or, and you

Email from David Axelrod: Warm Memories of a Chilly Day
February 12, 2016 at 3:43 PM ET by Melanie Garunay
David Axelrod sent the below message to the White House email list, reflecting?on President Obama’s return visit to Springfield this week.?Didn’t get the email??Sign up for updates.?
The last time I stood in the plaza outside the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, I lost the feeling in my toes.
I was huddled with 17,000 others in near zero temperatures to help Barack Obama launch an improbable challenge to the prevailing politics and policies of Washington.
Men, women, and children from around the country shivered together in the shadow of the hulking capitol where Abraham Lincoln once served. They had come, an aroused citizenry, to change the course of history, and the sheer joy and energy of that mission made the threat of frostbite a trivial concern.
I returned to Springfield on Wednesday, not in a rented campaign van, but on Air Force One, accompanying the President of the United States on the anniversary of his audacious announcement.
Watch some behind-the-scenes footage of President Obama’s return visit to Springfield, the place where it all began.
As we walked into the empty plaza, the scene came alive in my memory: A young man at the podium, his voice booming off the surrounding buildings. Thousands of supporters shaking handmade signs, roaring their approval.
“I’d crawl to Iowa to work for this guy,” one middle-aged man told us that day, a sentiment I heard from so many others. Frigid cold be damned! They came to make history and change the country’s course. And they would.
So much of what Obama promised nine years ago has come to pass. He has turned around an ailing economy, enacted health reform, promoted clean energy, wound down two wars, lifted up diplomacy, and so much more. But people of all political stripes also responded to his call for national unity, healing, and renewal.
And on that score, we as a country have more work to do.
Thanks,
David Axelrod
Video: 1,400 American Workers Outraged as Company Informs Them It’s Sending Their Jobs to Mexico
Video footage has emerged documenting the outrage and desperation of 1,400 American workers as they are informed that their company will be sending their jobs to Mexico. As Mediaite reports: “A cell phone video taken at Carrier Air Conditioner in Indianapolis shows the exact moment that the plant and union workers were told that the company had decided to shift production south of the border. ‘The best way to stay competitive and protect the business for longterm is to move production from our facility in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico,’ says the company representative at the microphone.” “Let’s quiet down,” the company representative says as the American workers of different races and ethnicities begin to shout out after being told that they will soon be out of a job. Although the establishment media seems loath to report it, globalist trade deals and the off-shoring of American jobs have become a central focus of the 2016 race– as earlier this month President Obama’s signed what could arguably be one of the impactful trade agreements in modern history, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Economic Policy Institute has documented that “Between 1993 (before NAFTA took effect) and 2013, the U.S. trade deficit with Mexico and Canada
Rubio: Because of Modern Warfare We Will Never Have a Draft Again
Friday at the Republican presidential Faith & Family Forum in South Carolina, addressing the recent presidential primary issue of women becoming part of a military draft, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said due to modern warfare a draft will never be necessary again. Rubio said, “I think there was a question in the last debate, they asked about select service. First of all, I don’t even think we need selective service anymore. I don’t think we will ever have a draft again. Modern warfare — if it ever reaches that level, because of the weapons that exist I dont think you are ever going to see a draft instituted. Second of all, I do not support drafting woman and forcing them to be combat solders. I don’t support that. I never have and I don’t now.” Follow Pam Key on Twitter @pamkeyNEN
Obama on Gay Rights: ‘One of the Things I’m Proudest Of’ ‘My Whole Political Career’ Based On Idea of Inclusion
President Obama said that what he has done for the gay community is “one of the things I’m proudest of, because my whole political career has been based on the idea that we constantly want to include people, and not exclude them” on Friday’s broadcast of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” DeGeneres thanked Obama for “what you have done for the gay community.” He responded, “It’s one of the things I’m proudest of, because my whole political career has been based on the idea that we constantly want to include people, and not exclude them. How do we bring more and more people into opportunity, and success, and feeling hopeful about their lives?” He continued, “[C]hanging hearts and minds, I don’t think anybody’s been more influential than you on that. I really mean that. That’s true. And so, your courage and — you’re just really likable. And so, as soon as — you being willing to claim who you were, then suddenly empowers other people, and then suddenly, it’s your brother, your uncle, it’s your best friend, it’s your co-workers, and then attitudes shift, and the laws followed, but it started with folks like you. I’m so proud of you.” Follow Ian
