Krauthammer: Hillary’s Accusing Sanders of Disrespecting ‘Icon in Black American History’ In Obama
Columnist Charles Krauthammer argued Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attacking fellow candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for his criticism of President Obama is a calculated push for African-American votes in South Carolina by “saying, ‘You’ve disrespected this icon in black American history.’” on Thursday’s “America’s Election HQ” on the Fox News Channel. Krauthammer said, “[I]t’s interesting the way that Hillary wrapped herself in Obama. That hasn’t worked up until now. Obama is not popular. Obviously, it hasn’t worked, because it associates her with the status quo. And all sides, Democratic and Republican, are railing against it, and saying how bad our situation is. Nonetheless, her strategy is I think quite specific, pointed at South Carolina. She has to win big there. If not, I think her whole campaign could collapse. It’s heavily African-American, and I think her sense is, her calculation is that in that community, Obama is a source of iconic pride, and when she specifically came after Sanders for his attacks on Obama, I think it was a way of saying, ‘You’ve disrespected this icon in black American history.’ Whether it’ll work or not, I don’t know, but it had a logic to it.” (h/t
Fournier: ‘Hard To Tell’ What Hillary Really Stands For, Moderators Should Ask About Emails and Clinton Foundation
National Journal Senior Political Columnist Ron Fournier argued that Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is “still meandering all over the place” and a debate moderator should ask about Clinton’s emails and the State Department IG’s subpoena of the Clinton Foundation’s records “again and again and again” on the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Election HQ” following the Democratic debate on Thursday. Fournier said, [relevant remarks begin around 5:50] “Hillary Clinton did not sharpen her message. She’s still meandering all over the place. What does she really stand for? It’s hard to tell. And [Democratic presidential candidate Senator] Bernie Sanders (I-VT), for the love of God, how do you go through that debate and not mention the emails, not mention that the State Department IG went after the Clinton Foundation records?” Fournier added, after anchor Bret Baier said, “But if I’m moderating, you have to ask.” “You would ask it again and again and again, as you should. It’s a very pertinent question.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett
Sanders to Hillary on Wall Street Ties: ‘Let’s Not Insult the Intelligence of the American People’
Thursday night at PBS Democratic presidential primary debate, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) challenged his opponent Hillary Clinton on her Wall Street contributions. Sanders said, “This has blown me away. Never in a million years would I have believed I would be standing here tonight saying that we have received $3.5 million individual contributions from well over a million people. Now, Secretary Clinton’s super PAC, as I understand it, received $25 million last reporting period, $15 million from Wall Street. Our average contribution is $27. I’m very proud of that.” Clinton said, “Let me respond. We are mixing apples and oranges. My 750,000 donors have contributed donations. That demonstrates the strength of support we have among people who want to see change in our country. But the real issue I think the senator is injecting into this is that if you had a super PAC, like President Obama had, which now says it wants to support me—it’s not my PAC—if you take donations from Wall Street, you can’t be independent. I debated President Obama numerous times. He was the recipient of the largest number of donations ever. When it mattered, he stood up and took on Wall Street. He pushed through and he passed the Dodd-Frank

O’Reilly on Cruz Criticisms of FNC’s Coverage: ‘Rubio Has Been Much Easier to Book’ Than Cruz
Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly responded to GOP presidential candidate Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s criticisms of FNC’s coverage of him compared to its coverage of fellow candidate Florida Sen. Marco Rubio by saying, “I can tell you that Senator Rubio has been much easier to book than Senator Cruz” on Thursday’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” O’Reilly stated, “Well I can’t speak for Fox News, but I can tell you that Senator Rubio has been much easier to book than Senator Cruz. In fact, Senator Rubio will be with us in two minutes, and Senator Cruz will not be with us even though we invited him on tonight. We also invited Ted Cruz on tomorrow night, and we invited him on earlier this week. I don’t really know what else to do. I’ll even buy him dinner. We hope to see Mr. Cruz on Friday.” After playing a clip of GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson criticizing the press, O’Reilly said, “I want the candidates to complain if they feel aggrieved. But I don’t want them to be paranoid. Here’s how the campaign should be covered. Hard news: Just report the facts, don’t need any shading. Commentators like me are free to give opinions on just about everything. Morning
