McAuliffe: I Don’t Know If WDBJ Shooter Was Allowed To Have A Gun Under Current Law
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) admitted that he didn’t know whether the shooter who killed a cameraman and reporter for WDBJ was allowed to have a gun under current law while speaking to reporters on Wednesday. McAuliffe was asked why firearms end up in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. He stated, “I’ve continually raised this issue. Twice, I have brought legislation before the General Assembly. Twice, I’ve asked that we have background checks. Twice now, they have rejected background checks in the commonwealth, as you know, this year, out of the General Assembly, I had to veto a piece of legislation that allowed individuals to buy machine guns in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I had to veto another piece of legislation that allowed folks to carry loaded shotguns in their cars. Now that’s a tragedy. We actually had an an incident, in the history in Virginia, where a

2 American Soldiers Killed By Militant In Afghan Uniform
Associated Press— A man wearing an Afghan security force uniform opened fire Wednesday inside a base in southern Afghanistan, killing two U.S. soldiers in what appeared to be the latest so-called “insider attack” to target foreign troops or contractors in the country. NATO said two men in Afghan uniforms were shot in return fire and wounded, correcting an earlier NATO statement that had said two gunmen attacked the soldiers before being shot dead. NATO said the gunman opened fire on a vehicle carrying international troops inside the base in Helmand province. Afghan authorities believe the shooting took place during an altercation. A Pentagon spokesman, Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, said the two coalition members killed in the attack were Americans. He would not identify their service branch. NATO did not identify the nationalities of those killed, nor the base on which the attack took place. Karim Atal, the head of Helmand’s provincial

Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush clarified his “anchor babies” comments after being confronted by protestors in Englewood, CO Tuesday morning. I’m married to a Mexican-American United States citizen. I’m immersed in the culture. I’m bilingual. I feel like I’m bicultural. I’m proud of the diversity of my own family.” Follow Trent Baker on Twitter @MagnifiTrent
WH Spox: Virginia Shooting Shows Need for ‘Common Sense’ Gun Control
Wednesday at the White House briefing press secretary Josh Ea rnest used the tragic live broadcasted murders of 24-year-old reporter Alison Parker and cameraman 27 year-old Adam Ward by a disgruntled former news reporter identified as Vester Lee Flanigan to call for “common sense” gun control. Earnest said, “The precise details of that incident continue to be under investigation. But as you’ve heard me say in the past: This is another example of gun violence that has becoming all-too-common in communities large and small. And while there is no piece of legislation that can end all violence in this country, there are some common sense things that only Congress can do that we know will have a tangible impact on reducing gun violence in this country. And Congress could take those steps in a way that will not infringe on the Constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. And the president has

Senior BBC Exec Complains He Cannot Compete With US On-Demand TV
The BBC’s Head of Television, Danny Cohen, has complained that the corporation “just couldn’t compete” with the global financial might of Netflix, losing out on a pitch for what he says was “a classic BBC subject”. Cohen, speaking ahead of the Edinburgh TV Festival, said the BBC could not match the wealth of Netflix, the American streaming service, and lost out when bidding for the right to make The Crown despite the subject’s strong British connection, reports The Daily Telegraph. With a reported US$100 million budget The Crown is set to be the most expensive Netflix drama to date. The new royal drama will be shown over six seasons, documenting HM The Queen’s life since 1947, says The Independent. It is being written by Peter Morgan, a return to the subject for the man who wrote the Oscar-winning film The Queen. Directed by Stephen Daldry it is said to feature John Lithgow as Sir Winston Churchill and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith as Prince Philip, The
Trump: Rubio, Jeb Too Phony
At a Dubuque, IA rally on Tuesday night, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump told the crowd that fellow Republican primary candidates Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and his mentor former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) hug, kiss and hold each other on stage despite Rubio running against his mentor when Rubio was not supposed to run. “So I saw them on the stage recently and Jeb says, ‘Oh, Marco is a dear friend of mine. A dear, dear friend; such a wonderful person.’ And Marco is saying, ‘I love Jeb.’ Do you notice Jeb never uses his last name? Why? He’s ashamed of it. Why?” “But, if I were Marco, in particular, if I was Jeb, I wouldn’t say, ‘Marco is a good friend of mine. Marco did something he was not supposed to do.’ I watch these two guys. They’re hugging and kissing and holding each other. Very much like actually Chris Christie did with the President. I’m only kidding. But they’re
