Many Americans don’t seem to appreciate as much as outside admirers do, that the United States is the only country in the world with a commitment to free speech enshrined in the nation’s Constitution. Many nations do not even have codified constitution of which to speak. Which is why it is almost more egregious to the outsider than the American that such protections are under assault, not just on the streets of Berkeley or Charlottesville, but in your legislature — and soon in your Oval Office. This afternoon, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed President Trump would “absolutely” be signing a resolution drafted by Republican and Democrat lawmakers “condemning” hatred. “He and [Senator Tim Scott] talked about that and discussed that and agreed that that was the appropriate place to be,” Sanders said. “In terms of whether or not he’ll sign the joint resolution, absolutely, and he looks forward to doing so as soon as he receives it.” But the resolution is manifestly a ruse — the first line of attack in a new wave of assaults against free speech in America. Let’s examine what the motion, passed by both legislative chambers early this week, says. The preamble, in

EXCLUSIVE — Catholic, Latin America, Poland Experts: ‘Bannon’s Comments Gave Cardinal Dolan Heartburn Because Bannon’s Right’
“Bannon’s comments gave Cardinal [Dolan] heartburn because Bannon’s right,” Dr. Christopher Manion, a Catholic writer and Knight of Malta with over 50 years experience in Latin American issues tells me. Eyebrows — mostly those of Charlie Rose — were raised when the Breitbart News Executive Chairman was heard to utter criticisms of Catholic leaders on the subject of immigration and the Deferred Action on Childhood Migrants. Dr. Manion expands: “The Catholic Catechism (N. 2241.2) says that immigration policy belongs with ‘political authorities’, not bishops. Good Catholics can disagree with bishops on immigration, and Bannon does. “Cardinal Dolan says he’s insulted because Bannon mentions money. Well, the bishops get a billion dollars a year from the federal government. That’s real money, even in D.C., and if the bishops think they’re getting it because they’re such good guys – well, they’re the only folks in Washington who are.” The issue hasn’t escaped the attention of one of the major players in the immigration debate which also happens to be a majority Catholic nation: Poland. Marek Jan Chodakiewicz — a Polish-American historian who served a 5-year term on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council — appears to concur with Dr. Manion. “The Catholic leaders
The Climate Change Lobby Is Complicit In America’s Unpreparedness for Natural Disasters
Why does it seem like America is persistently under-prepared for the natural disasters we hear about every few years? For as many billions of dollars, nationally and internationally, that are ploughed into meteorology and its bastard love-child climate change, you’d think there would be a preparedness in every community, every household, and in every region at risk from floods, hurricanes, tornados, or ManBearPig. Either everyone’s really stupid and stubborn, or dollars are wasted, with people are being — as usual — cajoled into believing the big arm of government will be there to bail them out each time. I suspect the latter part of that equation is the most likely. HEARTS AND MINDS, NOT SANDBAGS AND INSURANCE For all of the climate change lobby’s bluster, very little of the billions spent seems to find its way into action-orientated solutions. If these events are — as most in that field would have you believe — caused by climate change, then that lobby is either grossly negligent or criminally complicit in its failure to keep people and property safe. “But the Republicans!” the left will squeal of thwarted legislative measures, pretending they are blissfully unaware that there are other routes to market
Punish Americans for Their Heritage, but Reward ‘Dreamers’: How DACA Outrage Exposes the Left
By now it is crystal clear: the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was simply a way for President Obama to force his successor to make an unpopular decision. For all the pejorative “populist” talk about President Trump, his predecessor could not countenance something he regarded as unpopular, especially to his base, and a potential future base of the Democrat Party. The Obama doctrine across many aspects of his presidency was simply to kick the can down the road. That’s why within months we have heard of Trumpism, even Bannonism, but rarely did the world ever contemplate what ‘Obamaism’ was. The man was just another in a long line of tepid presidents since Ronald Reagan. But kicking the can down the road on DACA was in the policy’s very name. Deferred. Not cancelled. Postponed. Not abolished. Even so, the conditions under which DACA beneficiaries were allowed to remain the country were scarcely heinous on either side, if you set aside the rule of law, forget that these sorts of policies impact different states differently, and of course want to persuade the world that your legal immigration system is obviously the worst route through which to pursue U.S. residency. Besides all that, the
What is ‘Verrit’? New Pro-Hillary Site’s Name Means ‘To Conceal’… Among Other Hilarious Things
Verrit — a new pro-Hillary Clinton website — gained attention last night amidst questionable claims it was subject to a denial of service attack. But the question I had was: “What does ‘Verrit’ mean?” According to the site itself, “verrit” is a verified item of information marked with a 7-digit identification code. But the word has some curious etymological roots, the likes of which it appears founder and CEO Peter Daou failed to check. 1 — Verro (noun) This is where “verrit” as a word itself finds its first root. It’s Latin, and in the singular form means “swine.” How unfortunate. 2. In Albanian, the word means to “drag on the ground.” How appropriate. 3. In Ancient Greek, it means “to move slowly, or limp.” Remind you of anyone? 3 — Verrō (verb) There are a number of ways to take the word as a verb. One means “to scrape or scour,” another means to “carry off,” another means to “cover, hide, or conceal.” Again… perfect! Lesson number one when you’re trying to come up with a “cool” social media name for your new website: research what the word means. Wow. Never realized how absolutely freaked out some would be at the thought of Hillary
BBC Pushes Fake News Anti-Trump Story About Gay Mayor ‘Impeached’ for Banning Heterosexuals
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a strange anti-President Trump story involving a YouTube leftist, a town called ‘Hell’, and the supposed ban of heterosexuals from the city in Michigan. The report states: A YouTuber became mayor of a US town, banned heterosexuality and was then impeached, all in the same day. Elijah Daniel says he spent two days phoning US towns asking to be their mayor before finding an easy route in a town called Hell. He says he was inspired to move from making videos online to politics by Donald Trump. But despite the headline of the article, this is not really what happened. They stated: “YouTuber becomes mayor of US town, bans straight people and gets impeached”. In reality, the town, Hell (population 260), actually advertises for people who want to be mayor for a day and then impeaches them as a part of the whole experience. The inference that Daniel was impeached for banning heterosexuals — however bizarre — is not true. Not until halfway down the BBC story does the reader learn this. At the same time, they promote Daniel’s PR stunt, going so far as to liken the straight ban with President Trump’s
Kassam: With 35 Terror Attacks in Europe This Year, It’s Time America’s Left Got Some Perspective
The raging argument surrounding America’s “racist” monuments has dominated the news cycle in the U.S. of late. Breathless, hyperbolic, hot takes of horror and emotion, interspersed only by coverage of natural disasters. The murder of Heather Heyer, the anti-Semitism on display in Charlottesville, the Nazi flags, none of that can or should be minimized. But the discourse regarding monuments themselves, and the historical revisionism of the debate should be put into perspective. As much as America is culturally self-contained, she does not operate within a vacuum, as the nation’s sometimes ill-advised foreign involvements since 1975 demonstrate. Europe has experienced, this year alone, 35 attempted or executed terrorist attacks. That this is not major news in the United States speaks to a wilful insularity on behalf of the establishment media which picks and chooses what lessons the U.S. can learn from abroad. Perhaps it is because journalists in New York City or Washington, D.C. are fundamentally lazy. For this reason I have put together this map, as a tool by which to assist them in navigating the issue. As you can see, a crisis of extremism in Europe looks rather different to the “crisis” of extremism in the United States. While fledgling
VIDEO: NY ‘Art Dealer’ Erects 20-Foot ‘Trump Rat’ Inflatable, Jokes ‘Too Soon?’ After Hurricane Harvey
A 20-foot-tall, inflatable depiction of President Trump as a rat loomed in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon. As the world found out about the increasing death toll — including the loss of a veteran police officer killed in the line of duty — the activists joked about how the work coincided with Hurricane Harvey. “Too soon?” one chuckled. The pair of jokers, standing alone in the rain, argued their work represented what they called “The great desolation,” seemingly unaware of the irony, or juxtaposition of the phrase when compared with actual desolation in other parts of the country right now i.e. Texas. The depiction of the President as having a “ratty personality… not like the loyal rat, more like the bubonic plague rat” as the lead “artist” told me, gives perhaps an insight into the priorities of the political left. “His wife is wearing stiletto heels [to Texas]… he’s wearing bright white sneakers,” they argued, when I suggested the timing was poor. To be fair to the pair, they did argue you “can’t really pick your timing” when performing these stunts, because you have to get a permit from the city. No, I suppose not. But you can choose not
Hamas-Linked Council on American-Islamic Relations Welcomes Resignation of Dr. Seb Gorka
The controversy-ridden Council on American-Islamic Relations has welcomed the resignation of Dr. Sebastian Gorka from the White House. The group — which has campaigned for the dismissal of Dr. Gorka from the beginning of the Trump administration — stated: “We welcome the resignation of Sebastian Gorka as a presidential adviser… His extremist and Islamophobic views, and his reported past and current associations with racist and anti-Semitic groups, should have disqualified him from any government position.” The “anti-Semitic” talking point has been widely circulated since Dr. Gorka first took the job as Deputy Assistant to the President in January, but has been widely debunked, with even CNN being forced to concede the network “has found no evidence Gorka holds anti-Semitic views”. Meanwhile, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) was name as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial and Hamas financing case that resulted in the FBI discontinuing its working relationship with the organization. In 2009, a federal judge concluded that the government had found “ample evidence” to link CAIR with Hamas. CAIR has also been declared a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates. #CAIR: “We welcome the resignation of Sebastian Gorka as a presidential adviser,” The Council
Guardian: Minorities Can only Vote Conservative In Reaction to ‘Unreliable White Liberals’
While the establishment media rails against Brexit and Donald Trump for respectively — or even collectively — “dividing” their countries, the Guardian has decided to promote an idea, popularized by Labour MP Laura Pidcock, that conservatives and liberals cannot mix. In an article reminiscent of Shariah supremacist schooling — written by the paper’s deputy opinion editor and their sister paper’s chief leader writer — the Guardian also seeks to draw racial dividing lines between political persuasions, with Joseph Harker stating: Others, who I have more respect for, are those racial minorities who believe in self-reliance as a way of overcoming inequality rather than depending on unreliable white liberals… Forget that some people might actually just be conservative in their world view or philosophy. For Harker, it is all about race. He cannot see beyond it. You may only be right-wing if it is driven by a frustration (or worse) towards white liberals [emphasis added]. Co-author Sonia Sodha is supposed to offer the counterpoint to this, but only goes so far as to state she would be friends with a “conservative” with a secret leftist agenda: …I’d certainly be more than open to friendship with, for example, a Conservative MP who I knew was
